What is early intervention?

While all children grow and develop in unique ways, some children experience delays in their development.
Early Intervention Program is dedicated to helping children between 0-6 years.

There are five areas in which development may be affected:

  1. Cognitive development
  2. Physical development, including Vision & Hearing
  3. Communication development
  4. Social or Emotional development
  5. Adaptive development

How does it help?

  • Helps children with disabilities develop and learn to their fullest potential
  • Services such as parent education, support services, developmental therapies and other family-centered services that assist in child development is included in a family’s early intervention program
  • Respects the family’s strengths, values, diversity and competencies and answers families’ questions about their child’s development.

What does it include?

  • Screening programs for children under the age of 0 – 5 years for early identification, assessments and interventions Capacity building for community workers
  • Clinical assessment and re- assessment
  • Organize and facilitate sensitization workshops for ANMs, nurses and ASHA workers & doctors
  • Ensure follow up
  • Provide assistance and support for therapy for children
  • Support for assistive devices & mobility aids
  • Surgical interventions as per the requirement
  • Inclusion of children with disabilities in anganwadi centres
  • Awareness camps on spreading awareness for community

What is our objective of this project?

Our aim is to reach out to vulnerable villages across Karnataka, where we aim to see development of children having various types of disabilities.

What is our future plan?

GiftAbled is planning to expand projects in North Karnataka rural places like Koppal and Raichur districts.

We were able to support 48 people with disabilities providing aids and appliances. More wishes on our wall to be full filled.
