Each program responds to a specific barrier while building dignity, participation and independence.

Livelihood and independence

Swatantra

This initiative is designed to empower rural communities, with a special focus on Persons with Disabilities, caretakers, acid attack survivors, transgender individuals, underprivileged groups, and single women. By equipping them with employable skills, we strive to foster self-sufficiency and economic independence.

In collaboration with local resource training centres, the program provides skill-based training, enhances employability, and creates livelihood opportunities for participants and their caretakers.

The initiative also offers life-skills programs, workshops on disability laws, and training that strengthens marketing and financial knowledge, helping marginalised communities lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Healthcare and rehabilitation

Svastya

2.21% of India’s population are disabled, accounting for 2.68 crore individuals, including 20.42 lakh children aged 0–6 years. Of these, 69% live in rural areas, while only 2% of people with disabilities have access to need-based rehabilitation services.

Svastya aims to bridge this gap by providing services to individuals in some of the most rural areas of the country.

The approach is based on the guiding principles of community-based rehabilitation and the International Classification of Functioning.

Accessible career learning

LearnAbled

GiftAbled offers more than 30 courses designed for youth with disabilities, with 1000+ participants enrolled across technical and non-technical subjects.

The mission is to empower individuals with disabilities through industry-relevant courses that enhance employability. All courses are fully accessible, ensuring inclusive learning for everyone.

Available to students nationwide, the courses are conducted in English to foster greater reach and participation.

Why aspirational districts?

Directing CSR where the need is greatest

Aspirational districts represent 15% of India’s population, yet historically they have received only 2.5% of total CSR funds.

GiftAbled is working in four districts of Uttar Pradesh—Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur and Siddharthnagar.

The development challenge

These districts face significant challenges in health, nutrition and education. They require intensified efforts to improve basic healthcare services and educational outcomes, alongside substantial investment in healthcare infrastructure and nutrition programs.

Ramsha, a five-year-old with an intellectual disability who experiences daily seizures, has made remarkable progress through therapy. She has begun speaking a few words, improved attention and coordination, and developed greater control and mobility with support.

Midhuna

Midhuna’s family expressed heartfelt appreciation for the team’s dedicated efforts across occupational therapy, speech therapy and special education, recognising the valuable contribution of every therapist and educator involved.

Disability-compliant CSR

Making CSR projects inclusive

GiftAbled acknowledges that more than a billion dollars are invested annually in CSR projects across sectors. Yet many initiatives remain inaccessible because of limited awareness about disability inclusion.

Whether in education, sanitation, healthcare or culture, the goal is to ensure that projects are inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities.

GiftAbled assesses and vets projects for inclusion. By collaborating with corporates and non-profits, we help integrate accessibility into initiatives so that everyone can participate and thrive.
