Early Intervention Program

Developmental delay is a condition in which the child experiences a delay in attaining the required age appropriate milestone in a specific domain.

We have an Early Intervention Programme that is dedicated to helping children between the ages of 0- 6 years who have a developmental delay in 5 core areas.

  • 1. Cognitive Development
  • 2. Physical Development
  • 3. Communication Development
  • 4. Social and emotional Development
  • 5. Adaptive Development

Aim of this programme is to promote age-appropriate development and growth of children with developmental delay.

According to census 2011, 1 child in every 100 children in the age group between 0-6 years suffer from some type of disability.

Impact Stories

He could only manage to sit when he was around 2 years old and he started crawling only by the age of 3. He could not talk, sit or walk” his mother, Asma said.
He was given a Rollator which helped him learn how to walk. After rigorous therapies and practice, she is very happy to watch her son at 5 years of age being able to walk!

Basavaraj lives in Mundarage, a village near Koppal. “He was 4 years old when we the doctor told us that he had developmental delay.” Today, at 8 years of age, he is able to walk. “It is because of the aid, and therapy sessions that I see my son being able to walk. I am happy” Sabamma said.

Meet Megha, from Devadurga. “It was very difficult for me to watch my daughter not being able to sit or stand when she needed to, but right now I see her trying to stand with the help of the standing frame we got .” Basavaraj, her father said.
She is trying to stand and sit sometimes without the support and she goes for therapies regularly.

Why Tumkur ??

Total children (0-6) in Tumkur city are 29,655 as per figure from Census India report on 2011. There were 15,233 boys while 14,422 are girls. Around 5,000 Children are having a form of disability under age 10.

A part of the project which supports hearing aid and speech therapy for children with hearing impairment.
