Excellent Workshop awareness towards disability without making it dramatic
“Great way to be inclusive and helps you connect with the self. Highly recommend this for leaders”
Be inclusive, Be mindful, focus on abilities
The diversity sensitization workshop was wonderful & gave insights into all different types of disabilities. It was highly experiential, as it helped one gain exposure to aspects of sign language, braille and life on a wheelchair. Great job GiftAbled team!
Never learnt a new language with so much fun and enthusiasm.. Truly enjoyed the journey and final day is The Climax!!
Highly recommend Basic Sign language course by GiftAbled, we have tried few crash courses at our company and employees just loved it.
Learnt to be empathetic towards PwD in ecosystem. The session which we had attended was a “Beautiful one”. In fact within a span of time we could learn many a things pertaining to the differently abled people – their challenges, sign languages (tips), script etc. Most importantly how to read them & analyze their mode of expression in different aspects.
Ever since I happened to randomly watch a group of students communicating in Sign language at a bus stop ( a couple of years back) – a strange chord had struck me! Inspite of being a people watcher – strangely enough – I was not able to comprehend a single action of theirs. Wouldn’t mind missing a bus or two, just to sit and watch them (yes! have done that :P!) and try to understand their communication – but all that I could grasp was – just their state of mind (by their body language). nothing else. A clear message out of this was – I need to learn sign language! A big Thanks to Prarthana, Gift-abled, and all those who were involved directly / indirectly in this initiative. Hats off! The session was truly a start of one of my dreams-coming-true 🙂
I was reminded again today of how amazing volunteering is! It is just not about making time to help others… it is so much more… It’s an experience in itself. One such moving experience happened to me today at GiftAbled’s Braille and Sign Language workshop. I was blindfolded and given a cane to experience how it feels to be visually impaired. A volunteer was assigned to me to help traverse my path – which was to walk out of the compound and go till the next building and come back. In between there of course were hurdles like gate, pits, traffic, pavements and other humans. It was somehow deeply moving – feeling the fear of falling down, the fear of being hit by something and what not! However, the experience did not make me sympathize with the blind, instead it sensitized me towards them.
It was an wonderful class we had on this Saturday where we came to learn a lot from you. thank you very much for giving us an opportunity to learn and understand the difficulty which this people face in day to day life.
You also gave us an opportunity to serve them with this skill which we have started to learn. sure in future we will help and support our hands to serve for social cause and volunteer.
Thanks a lot for making us different from rest of the people.
After taking this session I felt I was Disabled as I couldn’t speak sign language or braille. This will definitely help me with an urge to practice and learn these languages. Would love to Thank you for your visit to CISCO and special focus of Disability matters.
An Inclusive environment is a must for everyone’s . I hope we can soon arrange a library of braille designed books with tactiles along with audio books. And, I am happy that I learnt sign language, even though I follows lip reading..looking forward to learn Sign language and Braille a bit more. Thank you again.
